we were young and naive still

Ya'aburnee means you bury me. (That is to say - I hope to die first, for I cannot go on without you.)
Chime - Franny Billingsley Actual rating: 4.5 stars.
Rose was the best.
Bones of Faerie - Janni Lee Simner Eh.
That would be my whole opinion.
The narrative style was okay. Not clumsy or excesively descriptive, not trying to use strange words, etc. But the protagonist was a bit of a dork in my perspective, and I kind of disliked her Mom too. I suppose I could understand such sadness after life has beaten you that much, but if she could fight for Liza then why not for Rebecca?
Ghost Baby was THE BEST thing.
Fashionably Dead - Robyn Peterman Abandoned at 17%.
Wow this was awful. Mostly the protagonist chattered about how much she liked Prada, how hot she was, how much she smoked and oh yeah she also was a straight-A student. I didn't like the caricaturesque characters - Paris Hilton and... Muffy...? being the biggest examples. I barely got to the part she meets the Love Interest at the cemetery and then I was done. DONE.
I can't believe Darynda Jones recced this.
Cast in Sorrow (Chronicles of Elantra #9) - Michelle Sagara Small dragon *hearts*
Also I really ship the hell out of Nightshade/Kaylin. Seriously. It's sick. He's an asshole.
Sovereign Hope - Frankie Rose Actual rating: 3.8 stars. Yeah, that's right.
I really liked some of the dialogue and Daniel was cute, but I never quite fell in love with Farley. She was so... irritable and whiny, kinda. I dunno.
Fish Out of Water (Fred the Mermaid, Book 3) - MaryJanice Davidson Actual rating: 3.5 stars.
I think. *squirm* Oh god, this... was painful and I ended up disliking Artur a lot. Plus, I mean, you know, politics and crap, and Fred was so miserable I was like miserable by association... or something...
But anyway, I loved Thomas's brief point of view. Oh god, oh god it was great. I always cheered for him. RIGHT FROM THE START.
Crash - Lisa McMann Actual rating: 3.5 stars.
Made to Be Broken (Nadia Stafford, Book 2) - Kelley Armstrong Oh, Jacko.
Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1) - Jamie McGuire I thought it was sort of okay until they got together. Then he became a complete creep, on top of a slut. I mean - no.
Just no.
Persephone - Kaitlin Bevis Actual rating: 2.5 stars.
It's not 3 stara because ever since that Percy Jackson book I've been absofreakinglutely in love with Thanatos and just no.
The Urban Fantasy Anthology - Charles de Lint, Carrie Vaughn, Francesca Lia Block, Tim Powers, Susan Palwick, Joe R. Lansdale, Thomas M. Disch, Suzy McKee Charnas, Bruce McAllister, Jeffrey Ford, Emma Bull, Steven R. Boyett, Al Sarrantonio, Peter S. Beagle, Neil Gaiman, Norman Partridge, Kelley Armst I read only The Coldest Girl in Coldtown and therefore my starring only applies to the aforementioned story.
Archangel - Sharon Shinn 3 stars for that absolutely lame ending, the lack of fluff (THEY FOUGHT ALL DAY HOW THE DEVIL DID THEY FALL IN LOVE) and because Rachel could be awfully catty.
The Rules for Disappearing - Ashley Elston Actual rating: 3.5 stars.
The Adoration of Jenna Fox - Mary E. Pearson It was all-right until I reached the ending. Then I was like, wait, what?
Halfway to the Grave - Jeaniene Frost Abandoned at 29%.
If there's something I'm picky about, it's the narrative style. It drives me out of my mind to read clumsy dialogue, and let's not even speak about bitchy girls who're supposed to be cute? I didn't like Cat. Not at all. She was unkind, stupid, she's not even funny to make up for it, and I didn't even get that far but it's obvious her mother bullies her around. I get that Mommy Dearest is all she's got but give me a fucking break. "You've got a monster inside you" -- or whatever, am not gonna check the exact quote now -- isn't precisely the correct way to tell a bird she's the product of rape. I'm just sick of these god-awful parents. WHEN IS A HEROINE GOING TO HAVE A TERRIBLY, TERRIBLY AWESOME FAMILY?
So, yeah. The good points: Bones, even if his nickname made me stare at the screen for a few second, the perverted poltergeist scene. I don't know. I was squirming so badly because I wanted her to tell things in a smoother way that I kind of freaked. Maybe she gets better later, yeah. I mean, this was published back in 2007 or something, right? But I won't read them. I have like three hundred books waiting to be read on my tablet.
*exhale* I'm disappointed -- in myself -- because I didn't even hit the halfway-there mark but I got impatient, because I just finished reading a really good book and so all the little things that bothered me were worse.
Alice in Zombieland (White Rabbit Chronicles) - Gena Showalter Actual rating: 3.5.
As a side note, 'cause everyone and their mama knows I don't actually ever write reviews even though I keep chirping I'll start soon:
Oh my GOD what is Miss Showalter's DEAL with men?!!!! like he actually ORDERS her around and ok, alright, she gives him sass but she still does anything he asks (seriously), and plus he's super possessive and kind of quick to angry AND I just
I mean, let me tell you: if my future boyfriend bosses me around like that he's gonna be gone in a blink. I'm just saying.
Will read book too. Kat was my favourite character, hands down.
